Jean-Philippe Martin, Partner at Visconti, discussion with David Guyot and Thomas Forest, Co-Founders and Managers of Pandat Finance.
Throughout their career, they share the joys and difficulties of creating and growing their company, which has become the French leader in cash investment brokerage in 10 years.
The story of Pandat Finance
David Guyot and Thomas Forest created Pandat Finance in July 2009 just after the 2008-2009 financial crisis, with the leitmotif of providing added value in the intermediation of treasury solutions between Banks and Corporate and Institutional clients.
The first years of the company were complicated with few customers and an offer that was not thorough enough. They quickly realized the need to change the business model: moving from a company with an offer that came out “from an engineering office” to a truly commercial company, by starting to canvass.
They are getting a taste for this sense of trade. The two co-founders are convinced that in today's corporate culture, this taste for sales and perseverance are quite significant. They knew how to question themselves, pivot and move forward.
Then come the major steps in the company's growth. The first step was that of the first employees in 2013: a real milestone in terms of responsibilities. They also point out that their first employee is still with the company.
In 2017, another key step; the move to offices that were more functional and in their image. It is the first structuring stone: With this new headquarters, Culture is asserting itself.
In 2019, they continued their growth ambition and reorganized capital holding with the entry of an investment fund, Isai, with 3 objectives:
- Increase your skills in the managerial part,
- Improve the digitalization of society,
- Offer an exit under good conditions for the shareholders of the first hour Love Money and BA.
Pandat Finance is becoming an SME: 40 employees, 100 partners, 100 partners, 1000 active customers and more than 50 billion euros intermediated over the last 10 years.
SMEs that have not completed their trajectory, with strong Ambitions for Horizon 2024:
- Double the key figures as presented above,
- Develop relational proximity with the opening of offices in the Lyon and Bordeaux regions,
- Continue to structure the company, around an experienced management line and a strong employer brand to attract talent
The leadership style of Pandat Finance Managers:
- Volunteer for David
- Collaborative for Thomas
A tip for being a good leader:
- Have humility, according to David
- Have pugnacity, according to Thomas
The biggest lesson that this trajectory taught them:
For David: you have to enjoy what you do and communicate kindness around you.
For Thomas: The success of Pandat Finance lies in the complementarity and complicity between the 2 managers: with different personalities but aligned with the essentials
